Srk plays his role superbly, at times he does repeat his patented mannerisms but yet he does well, looking aged but still good to be called a hero. In between we have patented comedy of Rohit Shetty and a lot of overdose of car shots, even during normal sequences The film also could have done with a stronger villain role, the climax too isn't that great and predictable Direction by Rohit Shetty is okay Music is decent, Gerua being the pick of the lot rest songs are ordinary Camera-work is good, Action Scenes(Sunil Rodrigues) are typical but well handled
The first half is more on romance and then we have a flashback of Srk, who was a gangster called Kali, son of a gangster Vinod Khanna and we have some twists in the film regarding Srk and Kajol. He dotes on his younger step brother Varun Dhawan who is a jerk, they both are car mechanics cum modifiers who live in a lavish house. Back to Dilwale, there is nothing new in the film, the film starts with Srk a mellowed down Raj who alongwith Rohit Shetty's regulars Mukesh Tiwari and the vastly talented Pankaj Tripathi are his henchmen turned yes man. HUM(1991) was released when Amitabh was going through a bad phase and yet was a hit, the song Jhumma Chumma was a hit, Amitabh was that time the same age roughly as Srk is today but was out of shape yet the film worked. The film has a story similar to HUM(1991) wherein Amitabh a roughian, suddenly mellows down with a changed name to help his brothers.

His Golmaal series were loved by most(not by me) Dilwale doesn't boast of anything extraordinary other then to see cars flying and Srk-Kajol. Rohit Shetty is a director who is rarely known as a great filmmaker, his films are entertaining(for some) and he resorts to any nonsense to make his film work. Reviewed by silvan-desouza 5 / 10 Hum and Rohit Shetty Masala ends up with Dilwale On the whole, 'Dilwale' doesn't work, despite a few merits. Boman Irani, Vinod Khanna & Kabir Bedi are wasted. Of the supporting cast, Johnny Lever, Sanjay Mishra, Mukesh Tiwari & Pankaj Tripathi lend great comedic energy & deliver some of the most rubbish lines, with ease. Kirti Sanon looks pretty, but gets nothing to do. Its surprisingly to see the otherwise talented actor summit to such buffoonery. SRK isn't in form this time, he looks jaded here. But its Kajol who delivers a credible performance, adding some weight to her weakly written character. Performance-Wise: The legendary pairing of SRK & Kajol is the reason why 'Dilwale' has gotten so much attention. But, A stronger Screenplay was the need here! Cinematography, Editing & The Action-sequences are strictly okay. There are too many loopholes in the narrative, although a few sequences are decently done. Yunus Sajawal's Screenplay needed a bigger heart. All you take home is a few moments & some comical punches. The Entertainment Factor is missing here.

Rohit Shetty knows how to entertain audiences, but sadly, 'Dilwale' is his weakest effort to date. Also, among the two love-stories, the one with the legendary on-screen pair, is comparatively better, as the other love-story in line, offers nothing. The twist at the interval point is predictable & the second-hour also scores low on energy. The portions in the flashback fair better, than what is served in present. The only element in this hour that works to an extend, is the flashback. 'Dilwale' has a mostly weak first-hour, where the humour & the characters, both, don't engage you.
'Dilwale' Synopsis: Two former lovers (SRK & Kajol) with a volatile past, reunite years later, due to their siblings (Varun Dhawan & Kirti Sanon), who fall for each other. The wholesome entertainment value, is missing here! Reason? Well, despite such big names associated to this biggie, The Writing & The Execution plays a spoilsport. Rohit Shetty's highly awaited 'Dilwale' has finally hit the screens. Reviewed by namashi_1 4 / 10 Doesn't Have The Heart One Expects From It!
